Provider Connection
You connect your insurance provider in the panel on the POS Center > Insurance page. You can also reach the same page with Provider Connections in the Insurance menu. A connection is the credential of your own agreement with the provider; your insurance requests reach the provider through this connection.
Setup order in the panel
For insurance to be offered to your buyer, all of the following steps must be completed in the panel:
Add the connection and enable the product
On this page, add your provider's connection, enable the product you will offer in the connection's details and choose who collects the premium.
Turn insurance on and choose the usage mode
On the Insurance > General screen, turn on Insurance on and choose the surfaces where you will offer insurance: Insurance Menu › General.
Enable the insurance type
On the Insurance > Insurance Types screen, enable the type you will offer: Insurance Menu › Insurance Types.
If you use the Checkout Form, turn on display in the form
In Form Settings > Insurance, choose where insurance appears in the form: Form Settings > Insurance.
If any of these steps is missing, insurance is not offered; your payments are not affected.
Permissions
The insurance screens work with two permissions. Your account administrator grants them to your team members.
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
Insurance view (insurance:view) | Viewing the insurance screens, connections, requests, policies and the reconciliation report |
Insurance management (insurance:manage) | Adding and testing connections, sending access requests, saving product settings, saving the General and Insurance Types settings, cancelling policies and refunding premiums |
Without the management permission the screens open read-only and the reason is shown next to the related button.
Provider catalog
Under Insurance providers, the providers listed in the catalog appear as cards. The card's badge shows how the provider is enabled:
| Badge | What you do |
|---|---|
| Ready | You set up the connection yourself with Activate, using the credential you received from the provider. |
| On request | The provider is enabled by contract. You first send an access request with Request Access; once your request is approved, Activate becomes available on the card. |
| Coming soon | The provider cannot be connected yet; the card is informational only. |
The card also shows how many connections you have with that provider. If the provider's credential fields are not defined yet, Activate is disabled and the card shows the reason.
Access request
To work with a provider that has the On request badge, click Request Access on its card.
- In the request window you can write an optional Note, for example your transaction volume or intended use. The note is at most 1000 characters.
- Send request forwards your request to our team. The decision reaches you as a panel notification and by email.
The card shows the status of your request:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Your request is under review. No new request can be sent meanwhile. |
| Approved | Your access is open. You add the connection yourself with Activate on the card. |
| Rejected | Your request was rejected; the card shows the reason. Review the reason and send a new request with Request again if needed. |
Approval does not set up the connection for you. You still enter the credential yourself.
Adding a connection
Click Activate on the card and fill in the form:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Connection name | The name of the connection shown in the panel. It defaults to the provider's name; at most 180 characters. |
| Environment | Test or Live. The default is Live. The test environment only enables the provider's test products. |
| Credential | The details your provider gave you. The fields depend on the provider and come from the provider catalog. |
- Add connection writes the credential to the secure vault and it is never shown again. Credentials are not changed on this page.
- The credential belongs to your agreement; every merchant connects with its own credential.
- You add separate connections for test and live. How environments affect insurance requests: Testing › What decides the environment.
My insurance connections
The connections you added are listed in the My insurance connections table:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Provider | The provider and connection name. Products and order takes you to the connection's details. |
| Environment | Test or Live |
| Status | Active, Disabled or Rotating. A Disabled connection is not used for insurance requests. A connection in Rotating status remains in use. |
| Enabled products | The number of products enabled on the connection |
| Verification | Test connection and the result of the last test |
Testing a connection
Test connection checks the credential against the provider at that moment.
- The result appears as Verified or Not verified, with the test time. If it is not verified, check the credential and your agreement with the provider.
- If the provider's integration is not live yet, your connection stays saved; it can be tested once the integration is enabled.
- The test result is not stored. When you reopen the page, Not tested in this session is shown.
Connection details
Click Products and order on the connection's row. On this screen you manage which products are enabled on the connection, who collects the premium and the product's order.
Products on this connection
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Product | The provider's insurance product, its version and status: Available, Test only or Unavailable |
| Enabled | Whether the product is offered on this connection |
| Who collects the premium | The collection method you choose according to your agreement with the provider |
| Order | When you have more than one enabled product for the same insurance type, which one is used first |
Rules:
- Whether a product can be enabled depends on the connection's environment. Test only products can be enabled only on a test connection, Available products in both environments; an Unavailable product cannot be enabled. Table: Testing › Test connection.
- You choose the collection method when you enable the product. The list contains only the methods the product supports; if the product supports a single method, it is preselected. A product without a selected method cannot be enabled.
- The Checkout Form offers only products whose premium you collect. Select You collect for these products. Collection methods: Insurance › Who collects the premium.
- Order is a whole number between 0 and 10000. The lower order is used first.
- If a product later becomes unavailable, a warning appears on the screen; when you save the settings, the product is saved as disabled.
Save writes the whole table at once. Before saving, Discard changes returns to the last saved state.
Provider order for the same type
For each insurance type among the connection's products, this section shows the enabled products of all your connections in order. This way you see in one place which connection is used first for a type.
- The list shows the saved settings. You change the order in each connection's own Products on this connection table.
- The Same order mark shows that more than one product has the same order. Lunixi chooses between products with the same order; if you want to decide which connection is used first, give the products different orders.
- The Connection disabled mark shows that the connection is not used.
The order applies within each environment separately. Requests made with a test key are ordered only among your test connections, and requests made with a live key only among your live connections: Testing › What decides the environment.
